They say that mountain biking is not for the faint-hearted. While this can be a fun thing, it is necessary to have the right kind of bike which has the right mechanisms. Bikes usually come with gears. Most regular road bikes have a pair of chain wheels and between seven and ten sprockets in the rear wheel of the bike. Mountain bikes, on the other hand, are meant for rough terrain, and it has more gears when compared to regular road bikes. Mountain bikes have a set of three chain wheel as well as seven to nine sprocket in its rear wheel. The range of the gears of the mountain bikers are relatively wider, and this allows you to use it on steep road climbs. Touring bikes, on the other hand, are built to cope to handle heavy luggage. If you are buying a mountain gear for the first time, make sure that you are totally familiar with its mechanisms. This includes shifting gears. There is also something known as a “derailleur mechanism” which allows the chain of your bike to shift from the chain wheel or sprocket to another. It is also advisable to pay special attention when you are climbing uphill or descending.
